WHAT IS PET THERAPY?

PEP's mission is to enrich the lives of people in our community through pet therapy. PEP volunteers and their therapy dogs bring companionship and comfort to a variety of settings where they engage in relationship building with all people, both young and old.

Pet Therapy is:

  • Walking into a room and seeing an elderly person's face light up.
  • Visiting a school as a Reading Dog team and hearing the giggles of excitement from the children waiting to read to your therapy dog.
  • Looking into the eyes of a depressed person and watching the comfort they receive while stroking or holding your pet.
  • Listening to stories about the pets people loved and miss, and at the same time, being told how much they appreciate you sharing your pet with them.

Pet therapy benefits people physically and mentally no matter what age they are, and brings joy to everyone who participates.
